The White Ribbon

Let's celebrate for the existence of this movie in this frustrating production of silly cheap films, which not only decrease our taste, but also made us to think like a machine. We will forget the pure goal of picture and in this case, cinema. Maybe some think that there is no goal, and the cinema picture anything without any purpose, I do respect them but i don't think like this. Anyway, this movie is different. it isn’t a Hollywood product but it has a very strong structure. The cinematography is brilliant in this movie and compositions are well designed. It couldn’t be a miracle, just a well ordered schedule could result this output. The frames are really like to photos and its not happening by chance. I read somewhere that the movie was shot originally in color first, but then on post-production procedure the crew decided to alter to black and white; what a good decision it was! I haven't seen the color scenes and they have not been released; and I hope this won’t happen! Because i feel the movie this way, believe me or not it was a great feeling, i suggest you not to lose this chance.

The drama on this movie is the one you may seek for, but haven't achieved yet. The crew is wonderful. I liked the Pastor role and its powerful actor Burghart Klaußner. He played his role very effectively and you can track his emotion on his face but not on his dialogs. The screen play was also drastic. This movie has won the Palme d'Or at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival.

Truly deserved and more than that. Highly recommended!

Run Lola Run

Wonderful! As the movie begins you will realize that you're gonna face a different movie due to its interesting prime scenes. On the following, the movie takes you deep in the story and with its high rhythm music and picture, keeps your attention on details; details which you'll unconsciously compare on next episodes.

3 different looks to an event is the key point of this movie. sometimes i feel shit about these key points but we live in real world, and in this world you're going too need some! the priority of these episodes are very nice and absorbing. The beginning of the 2 last episodes are really really effective, when Lola asks his boyfriend Manny about love, her crazy continuous questions and his simple silly answers; And the second one, Manny's concern about death and Lola's reaction to his feelings. I also liked Lola's father role, it was strongly played by Herbert Knaup.

the complexity of the story isn't that much you can't handle. but its sweet and when you think of them, you feel good and maybe it made you to think more to find these kind of complexities in your life. Again, every thing was just fine but its make up, i think it could done better than this. this movie became one of my favorites, watch it, maybe you feel same!

Tickets

No one can show us the meaning of life through a train better than Abbas Kiarostami.
You have probably heard that life is like a train and we are the passengers in it, we must be aware of the departure time, the ultimate destination, and our tickets.

But no one can illustrate this so that your unconsciousness only catches the idea, not your mind.
The film is in three episodes.three episodes with one attitude in common: Tickets.

EPISODE 1: LOVE
It shows and teaches us a true love from an old experienced, life seen man who is a professor and has just fallen in love with his secretary princes. You can see the love, the depth of it through his glasses; And you can learn how to love. At he last seconds of this episode, the writer shows us that love is not just for one person, you can share your love with all of the people in the world as the old man shares his warm milk with the crying baby.

EPISODE 2: IGNORANCE
This episode shows exactly the opposite side of a human.show us how much ignorant a person can be.Show us how a person can bite people an become so lonely to wish to die.
the old woman, wants to go to her husbands funeral, and she is really upset.but she don't have the tolerance and can't control herself,so begins to share hes sorrowfulness so wildly with others that every one gets really so full of hatred that every body leaves her behind.

EPISODE 3: HUMANITY
It's very hard to show humanity in its real shape.everyone interpret humanity as a whole positive manner.but it is not. We, humans, are something in the middle. We have good attributes and bad ones. It is important to see each other in this way; Neither white nor black, just gray.
A group of Celtic FC fans are going to Rome to watch their team's match. They're dying for their team. But something interrupts heir happy trip. An Albanian family steals one of their tickets and at the end the boy who had accused the Albanians of the robbery, gives his own ticket to the girl and here is the most beautiful moment of life, here you can see humanity, passion and love.

I personally enjoyed the first and the last episodes and just pour some tears for the first one. That's all :)

Mr.Nobody

What would happen if you reverse time, what if u could do that, what year, what day and what hour you want to be, and in that very moment of your life would you do the same? What if you could change your destiny, what if the result is worse than its former shape, what if you meet someone that changes your life in a new way you've never think about it, what if you could express your emotion to the one you've never had a chance to do so: to say i love u, what if you die, what if you can experience a new sip of life?

All these "what if" cases will diverge your storyline in many possible outcomes. In this paradox you can understand meaning of time, you can feel it and finally you can face it. Most people think time is like a river, that flows swift and sure in one direction, but it seems time is an ocean in a storm! No one can never tell what it is, and there is no particular definition for that. In this movie your gonna involve with it more, you may find the answer, and certainly Mr.Nobody will help you.

However, i didn't like Dr. Feldheim's makeup, it was too exaggerate and distractive! and some scenes was a copy of the short movie "Copy Shop" by Virgil Wildrich. I would like it more if there was no edges by colors in Nemo Nobody's different lives. watch it!

Hereafter

You are drown in the water, you can't breath, your eyes are wide-opened; it is the moment after the Tsunami that you have watched in the first moments of Clint Eastwood's new movie"Hereafter".

You are surprised by the editing sparks and visual effects of the Tsunami, but then you just fall from the top to the bottom. The story suddenly changes from an extremely eye-catching one to a slowly and fussy one.

The movie that kind of episodic. We are introduced to some people that are just wrestling with the souls of their beloveds and some people that can be the connector of two worlds. You see, the idea is very astonishing and fabric but the production is not as one of Eastwood's. You can't compare Hereafter with Letters from Iwo Jima, Or Gran Torino Or the legendary Mystic River.

To make long short, you will be disappointed at the end of the movie with that [...]ing cliche ending, so if you want to watch it to fill your time, I recommend you to watch a football match instead, but if you want to see how a great director and legend of cinema can make a trash movie, It's all in front of u!

Tangled

You must be kidding, how could this possible, these amazing landscapes on an animation, everything is just grate. So many touching scenes and you're gonna love them. Just look at that horse, this amazing character and his mimics, they are really adorable. The Rapunzel's hair is dreamy and i like this taste on animations, these strange unusual events. techniques are really good and they all meant to give you a feeling directors have planed it before.

The love between Flynn Rider and Rapunzel, this romance, is happening slowly and its what i'm talking about, no sudden love just like a blink of eye, this was one of the strong points of story. But there are some other problems with the story i want mention: The firs problem is story itself because it is stereotype: a blond princes is locked up in a place and a good guy shows up and rescues her from there, which has an evil guard and she is Rapunzel's fake mother, Mother Gothel. The rescue man, Flynn Rider, is a rider of a "white" horse. you can predict the end of it easily and you may find this a little annoying (It's on the background, so not much, just a little!)

This animation is really fun, i mean i had a good time watching it. It's very cute, i was almost laughing throughout the hole show, spend your time and watch Tangled, you won't regret it.

The Limits of Control

This movie is a feeling, a new taste which you've never experienced before. I felt two different personalities inside myself, part of me admired it, its professional cinematography, perfect framing and elegant dialogs; these are the strong points you can rely on them, at least, if i were Jim Jarmusch, i would specifically base my speech on these subjects to defend my movie from critics!

But, part of me didn't like it somehow, the story is really boring and you have to be active participant espressos drinker _ as the main character, "Lone Man "_ , to stay awake! Trust me! " The only "Limits of Control" in this movie is me being pushed to the limits of grabbing my remote control and hitting the OFF button! " said Arnold Agraviador. and he's a bit right! here is another funny review : " feel free to watch this movie on mute, you won't miss a thing! i promise! Even better, watch it at 1.5x speed, you won't even notice! " said Pak Mahn. maybe we shouldn't blame these people, this movie is an artistic one, a movie that cause to sleep, but also insomnia could be a result of watching this film.

In sum, i watched this movie in a same way as i watched a professional film making class, but there are some scenes i want to talk about: scenes that we see a helicopter in the sky, maybe it means that we all are being watched, the nude girl, maybe it's a symbol of man's desire and her plastic (invisible) raincoat verifies that, the people from different nationalities refers to equality of mankind and their same purpose, the drawing which is covered by a blank white cloth, it is a frame for "Lone Man", maybe it refers to that we all have different lives but same frame, and the scene which he used his imaginations to enter that room and finish his mission, here, the power of imagination and dreaming breaks any limits of control.

Watch this movie, specially if you're a big fan of his cinema.

Cars

I want you to watch this animation with your kids because the only thing keeps you interested in, is the gusto you can find in your children's eyes!! We all know the story: a snobbish personality (Lightning McQueen) seeks for more fame while people around blame him for his procedure! So something should happen to change McQueen, a mistake. He has a big race of Piston Cup ahead, but accidentally he lost the way and cause the damage of small town's road, "Radiator Springs", so they made him to repair the road. He finds friendship and love there and he changes.

I don't like simple stories, even for children, but here we face an ordinary story. we have other animations which are very effective while they're also a little complex like "Monsters, Inc." , "Up"or "Wall-E".

Overall, i don't recommend specially if your age is above 14!

Tare Zameen Par

I don't know what to say about this movie, maybe it's an educational film and it teaches parents how to treat with their children but for me it was brilliant, because i felt that I'm the one whose talents are buried; i thought I'm the one whose path is something else and i have to change this lifestyle to reach to the goals i ever dreamed of.

Ishan, the main character of this movie is an eight years old student who can't conform to a conventional educational system. he took us with him, to his amasing jurney, to his paradise and childish world.

Creativity is dead in academics and this could cause many damages to the children; Homework (1989), is Abbas Kiarostami's documantry which is very close to the subject, in that movie, children are interviewed by director and you can follow the problems of children there, and as i mentioned before, one of their main problems is lack of creativity.

Amir khan's Job is good and the story line is really solid.some special scenes make movie more than what you expected and i assure u that you're gonna love this film. so please if you watched it and thought that there is a child around like Ishan, help him...maybe you're the one who
needs help!!

Nader and Simin, A Separation

This film is one of the best movies ever made by an Iranian director, Asghar Farhadi. telling truth even it causes worst consequences _which could happen to someone_ is the distillate of "Nader and Simin, A Separation". Farhadi's previous movie "About Elly", was based on a same subject. i think lying and being dishonest have gotten a concern for him and he can't tolerate this, so he has used all kind of available tools around to express this meaning and absolutely, he has been successful in this job.

The subject he chose to base his story on, is so genius: a separation. we all know telling lies to each other is one of the reasons couples get divorced for, and this is getting bigger and bigger as time proceeds, because if you tell a lie you have to tell another lie to cover the one you've told before.

You shouldn't anticipate a happy end for this movie; the movie continues in your life, it grows in your mind and you're the one who put an end to it.

Nader and Simin, A Separation won the award for best foreign language film at the Golden Globes and The 17th BFCA Annual Critics' Choice. Also the golden Bear for best film, silver Bear for best actress and silver Bear for best actor are the awards this movie has won at the Berlin Film Festival. watch it, and enjoy.

Broken Flowers

It was night and i was about to sleep, i watched this film and then, i couldn't sleep! it really confused me. the first minutes are boring like Don Johnston's life but a mystery comes up, an strange mail in a pink envelope. his nosy neighbor excites Don to figure out the issue:

Winston " you need to treat this as a sign."
Don " what kind of sign?"
Winston " of the direction of your life."

, first he hides his appetence but he's unable to ignore his interest.

This film gave me a visual aftertime view, specially the scenes happen while he's asleep, they are really tangible, i bet u have some same experience as Don's.

Don Johnston's temptation is emphatic during the movie and it's maybe the reason why he's bachelor, why his afraid to meet his ex-girlfriends and why while Don is watching a film we see "some" pink flowers in his house right after the dialogue : "I was the only one. He'd never love anybody else in his life" , The eternal hunger of women for love.

I like Jim Jarmusch and his cinema, as i liked this movie, watch it!

Dear John

It was noon when i watched it, lying on sofa, very comfortable. again, a love story. a good-looking muscular actor named John(Channing Tatum)and a beautiful actres named Savannah(Amanda Seyfried) . with many kisses and love scenes you don't want to miss!!

Come on, how many movies like this producers should produce and directors direct to satisfy people?!!
wow! i didn't know that this movie and notebook is written by same person!
during the film i thought of notebook several times started with the scene which Savannah asks John for his promise to write down letters in which they could stay connected with each other. in both movies this loving relationship is ruined by military somehow.

The point is, the girl, Savannah, betrayed John and deserves loneliness but as always the magical power of love cause them to be together again and this is the ridicules part! when she asked John to say it back: "I'll see you soon, then", John replied "goodbye, Savannah"; it was what i call reality, if i was the director, i let this scene to be the last one.

I think it comes as a method of making love stories, a pro love story writer as Nicholas Sparks, a beautiful actor and an attractive actress, of course a director but no matter who he is, done! these love stories are common and this is why people could imagine themselves as one of the characters in the movie, so they like it!

Just wasting your time, don't!

Certified Copy

I decided to watch the movie at 2 O'clock in the morning. from the first seconds I figured out that this movie is not like Kiarostami's others. the whole environment captured me and carried me away beside Juliet to the alleys of France.
We met an author there, who had been recently succeeded in selling his latest book. It was about the copied versions of masterpieces of great artists. He is a district person and has the world of his own.A world in which no one has the value to involve, to have a role, to be loved!
The whole film rounds about the conversations and duels of Elle and James.
In one restaurant, they are just author and fan, in the other scene, they are a couple and in the end they are just far away from each other.
Kiarostami wants to show the innocent feelings of women, which has been taken for granted these days.Women, in today's life have become men's passion's slaves. not more!
Kiarostami wants to show that no difference you are an Iranian, or French or American, If you were a woman, you will have a fragile life.(we have some exceptions!!)
I can confidently declare that in all the dialogues which are like duels, Juliet has defeated William. all her mimics, gestures, smiles, tones, all of them are in the right place and at the right point. I think it is because of Kiarostami's rehearsal of getting direct acts from actresses in his previous movie Shirin (2008).

On and on, the film was finished at 4 O'clock. I was surprised when the final cast was shown. I just had this in my mind that it has only elapsed 20 minutes of the it and how fast the movie ended but then I realized that Kiarostami once again has hypnotized me and taken me to his outstanding, special world.

Watch it when you need to see beauties and awfulnesses of a couple's life.

Goodbye Lenin

I don't know, have u ever watched German movies? have you noticed what a solid structure they have? Goodbye Lenin is one of them. a historical drama story. it happens in 1990, when the Berlin was separated to two parts through a wall, the symbolic boundary between democracy and Communism during the cold war. Alex Kerner (played by Daniel Bruhl) has opposite political views from his mother (Christiane) which is an ardent supporter of Socialist Unity Party of Germany that indicated her Communism and Marxist-Leninism ideologies. Alex's participating in an anti-government demonstration cause Christiane a heart attack and she falls into coma. she awakes but after 8 months and many events happened when she was at coma including Berlin wall's fall. her son, Alex, according to her doctor advise which says that she shouldn't face any shock because of her heart attack potential, isolate his mother from any news and let Christiane to stay in her beloved illusion country.

if you haven't watched it yet i advise you do not read rest of this post!

the ending is really wonderful. Christiane dies and with her death that ideology fades away, which is the title of movie, Goodbye Lenin, it could be Goodbye Marx or even Goodbye Communism!

i really appreciate Wolfgang Becker's job, director of this film, which has 13 award winning and 14 nominations, you can follow that on imdb! it also has a high-grade original music by Yann Tiersen, French minimalist musician and composer.

strongly recommended!

The Da Vinci Code

the Da vinci code, what a grate movie it was, the movie cycles around the Christianity and its history, a new look to the religion combined whit a story of a girl (Sophie Neveu) and a symbologist played by Tom Hanks which is told to find a murderer according to his knowledge. as the movie goes on the mysterious aspect of it attracts you more and more. the ending wasn't fantastic but it was believable at least it didn't annoyed me.

the visual effects are good and they don't distract you but they help to understand the deep side of story because "this movie assumes audience members will be smart", said Lawrence Toppman.

the movie was banned in many countries to appease christian groups, but i think this movie is just fiction and we should stand on our believes and if this movie can change them to nothing, then its not a believe!

The Return (Vozvrashenie)

Has it occurred to you to have a dream in which you kill the most beloved person in your life?
The most beloved person who You also hate him the most!

The theme of this movie is like this, but a little more tragic. It's the story of a family made of a mother, two sons, and their grandmother. the story begins with the argument of the brothers, One of them wants to be powerful, rich, and popular but the other is the most opposite one. but they love each other!

one they, after they were following each other, they find out that their never-seen-before-dad has returned home.
the next day, they began a journey to a waterfall with their dad to do some fishing and the story begins...
I don't want to spoil the movie. but the connections between people is the major goal of this movie. the relation between father and son, brothers, and nature!
just watch the movie and enjoy the soundtracks, the acts, cinematography and direction of it. the narration is a little bit slow and boring but tolerable.

The last point is to pay attention to this question of mine that involved my mind for a while:
Which character of this movie do you think you are the most?

Irreversible

if u can stand its very first minutes, then you're welcomed to Gaspar Noe's dizzy world. a world created to destroy your visual thoughts and there is no scape but leaving the theater or turning the video player off, i mean that as some leaved earlier at the Cannes festival short after the movie starts on the screen.

it's a story based on revenge, Marcus(Vincent Cassel), who goes after the man raped his girlfriend, Alexandra(Monica Bellucci). the movie isn't regular and the scenes are edited inverse. the cinematography is really awesome and i think it is the only strong point of this movie, no more!

remembering this movie's scenes really annoys me, i think the world could be better than Gasper Noe's Irreversible, people could be better than the man who just watched that rape and ignored it.

i don't know even is it a good experience watching this movie or not, but i don't recommend.

IP Man

he's hero, at least, mine. i really liked the story and its impressive appeal along movie. some could find this film boring because its action scenes but i think beyond them, there is a man which behaves kind of strangely with the people around. his lifestyle his wife even his look, all of them attracts you to watch it. but let me clear one thing with you, you're not gonna face a movie which includes a deep signification in it.its a normal (maybe a bit normal!) life of a Chinese Kung-fu master, which tries to save his family during the war between them and Japan and at the end he sacrifices himself for his country.

the last scene of IP Man 1 is the beginning of IP Man 2, where they take injured Ip Man to Hong Kong. there, he starts to found a martial arts club and in this way,he faces different problems ahead, and these problems ends to defending china and its prestige, surely, he wins. i think it is the dark side of all movies which are character based, in the stereotype way, characters are the one who is the winner at the end.

beside, the actor, Donnie Yen done a nice job. IP Man was master of grate martial arts actor and director, Bruce Lee, and there is a short scene which he comes to IP Man and asks him for teaching Kung-fu, Ip man replies:Come back here when u grow up...
I really enjoyed watching it, i hope u to experience same feeling

No one Knows about Persian Cats

Episode I:

"Fantastic,Awesome...what a great movie it was..."
This is the first reaction of you after watching this movie...Maybe some say that, this movie is...just a documentary about Iranian Modern Genre's musicians, but no!

Ghobadi once more has chosen an excellent idea. The idea is about Tehran's nowadays culture, poverty, dictatorship, paying no attention to talents and blah blah blah, and to reach his goal, he chooses language of music. because everyone in this world has a sense of music and can connect with music. Ghobadi goes through different genres of music by chasing two friends named Negar and Ashkan who want to go to England and create a band. they search for partners using the knowledge of a guy named Nader, he is a man who does anything, goes anywhere and talks to anybody to reach his goal.
Ghobadi uses the nature of documentary movies to affect on peoples thaught about the conditions of Iran. in the first hours after you watch the movie, you think that what you have watched is the reality itself, and Ghobadi has made a successful work and then here comes next...

Episode II:

You search the people who played the tracks in the movie...
First of all, Nader who sings in Folklore Genre, and the results are outstanding.
He is a superstar in Iran's cinema, a perfect actor and singer, despite of his appearance in the movie with his band called Darkoob.
then you search the metal band Nik Ayin... and see that they are not actually a farm players!
they are real artists and have a real band.
wow! you were mistaken by the screen!
you search Hichkas, the rapper of the movie and see that he has his album published. Although it is underground but has great reputation among Iranian Youth community.

then it is you to judge, what is the intention of the director to make such a movie?
He uses everything to just show the trash side of Tehran and Iran.
He doesn't pay attention to the brightness. at the end you can't get inspired by what you just watched...you just stand and feel pity for Iran.

On and on...the Execution of this project is awesome.Ghobadi made all his effort to reach his project to the peak.and he has been succeeded but after the first shock...It is up on the watcher to decide which side he is?
Persian Cats Or ...!

Women Without Men

Here is my question: how it is possible that a poor movie like this, won the Silver Lion for best director at Venezia 2009 festival! maybe i don't know Shirin Neshat, the movie's director and her previous artworks including her movies, but of course i can judge her directing. She's awfully giddy according to her direction in this movie, progressing the film without a coherent screenplay is just a game, a political game which indicates Iran's chaos in that period of time continued until now.

I think spending your time on watching this movie is just killing it.
many goofs make movie more intolerable for you. But if you really want to watch it then pull the trigger!

there are some scenes i want to talk about them very briefly but since neither i want to waste your time nor mine on this, i just talk about one of them : A scene which Munis is falling down of a building and dies, then her brother(Amir Khan) buries her in their garden. some days later her friend, Faezeh, during Amir Khan's wedding hear a sound from underground, and it was Munis calling for help! Such a ridiculous part it is, in a realistic story like this, how could that happen?only god knows.

at the end, if you watched it and enjoyed i totally respect your choice.

How to Train your Dragon

Oh, why do you seem so sad like this?! here is my advise, Train your dragon! I bet after watching this animation you feel better than now...

these days, animations become a part of our life that cannot be ignored. I love animation and its magical world, the world which our beloved characters can do anything and take us to this lovely universe which we don't want to get out from and always dream ourselves as the hero of the story, here, Hiccup!

the story is what you want, a boy who's weak. His friends always mock him and a father who's a real viking but he's shamed of his son because of his inefficiency!
when the story goes on, he strangely meets a Night Fury which have been hurt and trapped by Hiccup. He wants to become a real viking as what his father wants, so he intends to kill Night Fury - the Dragon - by his knife, but because the dichotomy inside him, he can't do that, instead he cuts off the snare and the story begins...

the story is based on imagination and you have to accept facing fantasy by illusive beings, but beyond this u can feel some tangible relationships which are familiar for us in our real world

overall the story is good enough to spend your time on it, and the ending is out of stereotypically!
don't miss watching it!

Shutter Island

It's happening in 50s.the aftermath of war shows itself in everything and most of all,in minds...
I don't want to talk about how impressive the cast and director performed.I just wanted to analyze the syndrome of this kind of movies that are spreading more and more.

Memento,Aviator,Machinist,Inception and blah blah blah...The directors have found how to bring people to cinemas...how to catch their mind and squeeze it to death...yes it is lied in mystery genre...these days everybody is saturated by action, love, biography movies...but Mystery is something else.

From this paragraph on those who have not watched the movie yet shouldn't read on.
DiCaprio has found his real place in today's cinema...solo roles are his profession.his mimics are awesome..when he gets hysteric and blinks you get that something is wrong with him.

Scorsese has again proven himself, his power, his profession to the world...with perfect navigation through dialogues, through fantasy dream.

but something annoyed me...that DiCaprio played the same role in two movies at one year...a man who dreams of his loved wife and wants to relieve himself by doing something terrible.

on and on I give 8.4 out of 10 for great acts, cinematography, directing, etc.
watch the movie and have a great and amazing tour in Martin's Delusional World.
